monoprints with hand-made waxed paper.

John T. Scott, teacher and master printmaker

mono-prints are one-of-a-kind hand-made works created on a plate and printed on a press. The plate contains images built by placement of colored and/or textured papers. In the initial preparation paraffin is melted onto the papers. Oil based inks are rolled onto the paper and the design is then built directly on the plate and printed. Often a "ghost", shadow of the first print, can be rolled from the initial plate.
